🌱 Harness your skills
When starting a career in digital marketing
Is the first time I said it, but it couldn’t be a better time to do it than now. However, it is a challenge, and it is not for everyone. The landscape is rapidly changing, and everything you learned 10 years ago might not be relevant anymore. So, of course, you keep the processes in place and the learnings, but the use-cases are changing.
And that’s something to bear in mind. Digital marketing is a very competitive sector and highly challenging. So if you don’t like to learn and consider yourself a lifelong learner, go to a different industry.
Digital Marketing is more complex than ever. To grasp this requires having basic knowledge of SEO and SEM, Data Analysis, Social Media, PPC (Pay-Per-Click) and social media advertising and email marketing.
What will help you create great digital campaigns is developing skills such as storytelling, strengthening basic design principles, creative problem solving, sales and persuasion.
And if you want to thrive and climb the digital marketing ladder to the top, you need to master project leadership, agility, adaptability and strategic planning skills.
Also, you can choose to master only one of the areas within the digital marketing world and become a genius of it - a pro in your sector. Then you learn how to develop something more appropriate, in my opinion.
I, for example, focused my curiosities and learnings on everything related to social media and climbing the ladder in this area while keeping an eye on the big picture.
Sometimes all you need are the basics. As for a book, once you know its content lists is way easier to find that paragraph you’re looking for.
💡 Ask yourself
Questions to make you think, instead of useless advice
Your customers will want to know who your brand is and what your brand stands for. They will want to know where your brand will help them achieve their desired outcomes.
So here’s a powerful question for you to brainstorm over it. Make sure to have it answered before drafting any strategy.
[Personal Brand] / [Company Brand], what do you want to be known for?
