This newsletter comes from my regular overwhelming feeling when it comes to catch-up with what’s happening in the industry.

My sources are Google Alerts, Feedly, Twitter Lists, Facebook Groups, LinkedIn News & Newsletters and 1, 2, 3, …, 10 other newsletter subscriptions to get the touch of it. To understand what’s happening and to be able to grasp a simple overview.

So when someone strange to the industry asks me what the trends in Digital Marketing (which happened so many times) are, I can summarise it in one phrase instead of 4 paragraphs.

! VERY IMPORTANT: Digital Marketing Basics Newsletter aims to reach out to those at the beginning of their digital marketing careers, learning and trying to understand the cosmos; therefore, I will curate content split into sections meant to help beginners.

It doesn’t mean that the experts and professionals in the area cannot read it. On the contrary, I firmly believe that going back to basics is necessary for planning and strategy nowadays.

Who am I, and what’s my catch…

Visitors, readers, and future subscribers, I’m Monica - a marketer since 2008 and social media since 2009 when I opened my Facebook account.

My catch with this newsletter is that I’m on a mission to help those joining the industry understand social media, digital marketing, how to learn and keep things simple and efficient.

Over the past 14 years, I’ve contributed as a marketer and communicator to:

  • non-governmental organisations

  • local media (radio host and newspaper editor)

  • public institutions

  • SMEs and private companies

In a nutshell, I’ve helped define and implement the right Marcom solutions for their needs - creating a Marcom department, “planning the planning”, running workshops, teaching others how to implement the planning, etc.

I spend my time learning about learning, personal development and social media. I’m excited about how we communicate nowadays and how technology interferes by making it better.
